The consequences of climate change are now more than threats for vulnerable communities in Bangladesh, but realities.

At a time when food insecurity and natural disasters are increasingly part of daily life, FIVDB is committed to promoting climate resilient communities with the ability to recover from, adapt to and mitigate natural stresses and climate events. FIVDB does this with a holistic combination of disaster risk reduction planning, promotion of organic and resilient agriculture practices and local government advocacy.

FIVDB uses our community empowerment and education programs as platforms to build climate change champions. For example, our community libraries and Community Learning Center (CLC) lesson plans provide disaster risk reduction education to community learning groups and schools.

FIVDB in partnership with Welthungerhilfe is building Climate Smart Villages in the Char and Haor regions that empower community members to develop risk management plans and adopt resilient organic farming and composting practices.
