Everybody’s voice deserves to be heard. FIVDB empowers women, children, and disadvantaged individuals to reach their full potential through social and economic inclusion.
Our programs strive to equip girls and women with the skills and resources they need to reach their full potential and be positive forces for change. Our approach is three-fold, emphasizing knowledge, solidarity and inclusion:
KNOWLEDGE
We believe in the power of knowledge to transform livelihoods. Our education-based approach to economic empowerment moves beyond microcredit to foster awareness and sustainable skills to improve wellbeing. From leadership skills to business plan development, our financial literacy and skill training programs have helped hundreds of women and adolescent girls develop their own livelihood-generating activities and become leaders in their communities.
SOLIDARITY
Social inclusion and solidarity are crucial for building resilient communities. FIVDB helps youth and women across Bangladesh to organize and support each other, whether designing their own advocacy campaigns, forming child protection committees or simply building friendships. FIVDB staff provide assistance and organizing space for community members to come together to discuss issues in their communities and make plans for change.
INCLUSION
Accessing justice and representation is a barrier to social inclusion for poor and disadvantaged populations. FIVDB’s Subichaar program connects individuals to legal assistance and provides mediation and arbitration to ensure the inclusion of vulnerable people in decisions that affect their lives.
