Education is crucial for achieving a vibrant and democratic society.

At FIVDB, we believe that every person – regardless of age, gender, or income – has the power to learn and grow. That’s why our education programs meet people where they are, delivering functional learning directly within and alongside communities.

Education has been at the heart of FIVDB since its inception. Our approach to education centers the student as an active participant in their own learning through interactive programs at all life stages.

Our Community Learning Centers are the foundation of our education programs. On a primary level, the CLCs are home to a variety of programs including primary education, adult literacy and skills training. Outside of school hours, they also serve as meeting places for grassroots initiatives such as mobile libraries, intergenerational learning groups and community advocacy organizations. CLCs are initially co-managed by community leaders alongside FIVDB, and eventually transition to full community ownership.

We also engage in informal education through training programs for adolescents, education resource centers, and school registration campaigns. Our programs target the most vulnerable – such as tea garden communities, Rohingya adolescents and school drop-outs – to ensure that education is accessible to those who need it most.
